Position Overview

The Warehouse Worker / Delivery Driver is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing supplies, equipment, and materials across school facilities. This role combines warehouse operations with delivery services to ensure efficient distribution of resources. The position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to operate vehicles and material handling equipment safely.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and process incoming shipments and deliveries
  • Store materials and supplies in designated warehouse locations
  • Pick, pack, and prepare orders for distribution to school facilities
  • Operate delivery vehicles to transport supplies and equipment between locations
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles using proper lifting techniques and equipment
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and track materials using inventory systems
  • Organize warehouse space to ensure efficient storage and retrieval
  • Operate material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse and storage areas
  • Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Coordinate with school staff to schedule deliveries and pickups
  • Report damaged goods, inventory discrepancies, and equipment issues
  • Maintain delivery vehicle including basic maintenance and cleanliness

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous warehouse or delivery experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
  • Basic math skills for inventory counting and record-keeping
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment (training provided)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings or evenings as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift certification
  • Experience with inventory management systems
  • Commercial driver's license (CDL) for larger vehicles
  • Experience in educational facilities or public sector
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures

Work Environment

This position works in warehouse facilities and travels between school locations for deliveries. The role involves both indoor warehouse work and outdoor delivery activities in various weather conditions. The warehouse worker typically works independently but coordinates with other facilities staff and school personnel. The position may require early morning starts for deliveries and flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more on a regular basis. The role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching. Employees must be able to work in various weather conditions and environments, including outdoor settings. The position requires manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to operate tools and equipment safely.
